A Strengthened International Dialogue

Further strengthening relations between Italy and Argentina, and expanding business opportunities—particularly in the energy sector—were at the core of the event “Argentina: Opportunities in the Energy and Energy Transition Sectors.” The event, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Promos Italia, ICE and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Argentina, highlighted the growing strategic importance of this partnership.

Institutional Leadership

The discussion was introduced by Antonio Tajani, Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, together with Diana Mondino, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship of Argentina.

A Strategic Agreement

A key milestone is the Memorandum of Understanding between the EU and Argentina on sustainable raw material value chains. Aligned with the EU’s Global Gateway strategy, the agreement aims to ensure a secure and sustainable supply of critical raw materials essential for the energy and digital transition. It also supports the development of local industries, job creation and inclusive economic growth—bringing mutual benefits to both regions.

A Natural Strategic Advantage

In a context of strong geological potential, Argentina stands out for its vast natural resources. Its reserves of oil, natural gas and renewable energy sources—combined with critical raw materials such as lithium, copper, gold and rare earth elements—position the country as a strategic hub for mining and long-term investment.

A Growing Market of Opportunities

With solid economic prospects and ongoing innovation, Argentina is emerging as a dynamic and expanding market. As highlighted by Minister Diana Mondino, this is a moment where opportunities are no longer theoretical, but concrete—making it an ideal time to invest in key sectors.

A Shared Vision for the Future

For the European Union, this partnership represents a strategic opportunity to develop sustainable raw material value chains. In a context marked by both challenges and growth, collaboration becomes essential. By combining European expertise with Argentina’s resource potential, both sides can create shared value and achieve ambitious long-term goals.
